Resumen

The exploratory analysis of the conceptual and lexical metaphors in the Spanish Immigration Act (Ley de Extranjería) and contained in the Spanish press. This paper is based in a wider study (Saiz de Lobado 2015), within the project Inmigra-S2007/ Hum0475 and IN.MIGRA2-CM H 2015/ HUM 3404. The analysis of the metaphors contained in the corpus will be combined with a description and redefinition of these tropes. As it will be seen throughout the paper, their linguistic and conceptual character, together with their communicative function, make metaphors key to analysing discourse, from a critical perspective.
