Brief description ot the activity

Dr. Andrés de la Escosura belongs to the recently created Institute for Advanced Research in Chemical Sciences (IAdChem) and the Organic Chemistry Department at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), and leads the research group of Biohybrid Materials and Systems Chemistry (http://syschemdelaescosura.es). The group is concerned with the design and synthesis of new supramolecular and nanostructured hybrids from synthetic and biological components, and the study of their complex biological functions. Dr. de la Escosura actually has a solid reputation in the area, with various projects funded by public bodies on this particular topic (see below), and a series of well-established national and international collaborations in his fields of interest. After finding useful properties of protein capsids as nanoreactors and nanocontainers to incorporate different kinds of materials, Dr. de la Escosura and coworkers are currently working in areas that include biomedical applications and prebiotic systems chemistry.
