Abstract

The works of Rafael Morales (1919-2005) make a key part of the Spanish post war poetry. The publication of Poemas del toro, in 1943, starts a new language of uprooting that will become essential in the rehumanization of poetry during Franco's dictatorship. His poetic, characterized by a clear moral compromise towards the humble and a sincere worry for those who suffer, breaks with the esthetical precepts of the classicist or pro-francoist poetry and becomes a precedent of the Social poetry. In this work, we will delve in the most relevant aspects of Morales' first works and their importance in the poetical setting of his time.
