Abstract

The aim of this work was to delimitate the influence of the « gender role» measured by the BSRI (Bern, 1974), on subjective sexual arousal, evaluated by three scales in which the Ss (86 universitaries, both sexes, 21-25 yrs) must assess the perceived arousal level, emotional reaction and aesthetics of seven erotic stories, differing in the type of sexual relation (homosexual versus heterosexual), the dominant role in the story (feminine versus masculine), and the type of story (romantic versus pornographic). Results showed the need to consider the interaction between boht variables «sex» and -gender role» for an adequate explanation of the findings. Also, our results seem to maintain Money and Ehrhandt’s theory on Proyection-Objetivization (1972). Finally, it was validated Wilson’s « Sexual Fantasies Scale» (1978) in our sample, finding a reliability (α = 0,86), and a factorial structure partially concordant to his analysis, throwing 6 main factors which explain the 55% of total variance. © 1990 by Aprendizaje.
