Abstract

© 2019 CSIC. eative Common. This research is a continuation of an earlier paper in which we addressed the changes that took place in the space occupied by the chapel after al-Hakam II and before becoming a royal pantheon. Here we intend to reconstruct the changes that this same space experienced after the mosque was consecrated for Christian worship. This research specifically examines the time-span between the entry of Ferdinand III in Cordoba in 1236 and until the mosque was modified as the funeral chapel of King Ferdinand IV (†1312) and Alfonso XI (†1350). We propose that Peter I may have intervened and analyse the forms and decorative elements that have been preserved.
