Abstract

The use for different investigations of geohistorical sources at the national and international level has increased remarkably in recent decades. In this context, the study of the natural environment, and its evolution over the centuries to obtain a better and more complete understanding of it, is the objective proposed in this work, although restricted to the scope of the Spanish sources of the period covered. between the 16th and 19th centuries. Among them, the cadastral and para-cadastral sources stand out as protagonists due to the territorial extension that they generally cover and the application of identical interrogations for each one of the localities analyzed. One of the contributions of this study consists of the analysis of this type of sources to reconstruct the historical natural landscapes, examining and valuing their contribution, as well as the interpretation of the information provided. Study that we wanted to circumscribe to a specific territory -that of the former province of La Mancha- and this to spatially contextualize the information that these sources provide in order to be able to verify it in a specific space. The choice of this region has been motivated by having a greater wealth and better conservation of this type of sources.
